The negative health conditions associated with acidification are numerous. And while it is possible to treat each illness or symptom individually, such measures will never be anything more than temporary. You’ll spend your time and money consulting with various specialists and purchasing prescription and other medications. And after all that effort, your health problems will still exist.
To effectively deal with the illnesses and symptoms that are brought about by acidification and to return the body to an overall state of good health, it’s very important to address the root of the problem. You’ve got to find out why the body is not ridding itself of excess acid. Once you understand why this isn’t happening, you can begin a treatment plan that will reduce and preferably eliminate acidification and balance your body’s pH level.
Step 1
First and foremost, you must take steps to stop acidification right where it starts. You’ve got to stop filling your body with high-acid foods and drinks. You will never get acid levels under control if you continue to flood your body with them because there is a limit to how much the body can safely eliminate. The other treatment methods you attempt will be short-lived at best if you don’t change your diet.
Step 2
Focus on providing your body with more alkaline-rich foods, the fruits and vegetables you pass on more often than you consume. You will be amazed at how this one simple step can drastically impact acidification levels.
Step 3
Exercising will enhance the acid oxidation process, another tremendous benefit. To address the acids that have been embedded within the tissue, consider plant-based medicines. These help increase sweat levels and urine flow, two of the body’s acid elimination channels.
Step 4
If taken correctly, alkaline mineral supplements help the body two ways. They assist with the elimination of acids that are consumed throughout the day. Plus, they help dislodge the acids that have become imbedded deep within the tissue. If given the choice the body will keep those deeply lodged acids in the tissues rather than risk allowing them to enter the bloodstream where they can upset the pH balance and cause serious health problems. Alkaline that is introduced to the body works to neutralize these acids so they can be safely transported to the skin surface and eliminated. When acids come into contact with the alkaline, they become neutral salts and as such, can pass safely through the bloodstream without impacting its pH level.
Step 5
Putting the body through an acid cleansing process isn’t really that difficult, and the payoff is well worth the effort. As those deeply embedded acids are dislodged and taken to the surface to be eliminated, the body immediately starts repairing the conditions that have been brought on by acidification. As long as acid levels remain under control, there’s little chance those conditions will ever return.

The body really does know how to protect itself. A perfect example is what the body does when too much acid is present. Regardless of whether the acidification is affecting the entire body or just one organ, the body has two ways to deal with the excess. The first is simple; the body begins to eliminate the excess acid by way of the lungs, kidneys and skin, thereby reducing the overall amount that is present.
In addition to the process of elimination, the body can attempt to neutralize the acids by creating neutralizing salts. The body begins this process by identifying the troublesome acids and then calling upon the elements that counteract the particular acid for use in building these salts.
The respiratory system is the fastest way to eliminate excess acid. The problem with this method is that only weak acids can be eliminated. The weak acids are oxidized and then released as breath moisture and carbon dioxide with every single breath. To expedite the elimination process, all that is necessary is to increase a person’s rate and volume of breathing. The body knows how to easily adjust to these short-term needs.
Strong acids, because they are not volatile, cannot be turned into a gas. They cannot be exhaled by the lungs so they have to be eliminated by the kidneys as solids. The kidneys begin the process by actually filtering out the uric acids, the sulfuric acids and other like acids from the blood. Next, urine dilutes these filtered acids and they then are eliminated. The kidneys do have a limit as to how much acid they can process each day. They cannot adjust the elimination rate as the respiratory system can.
Fortunately, the body has one other tool available in its self-defense arsenal: The skin. Because it is covered with sweat glands, the skin is a very effective (although frequently overlooked) means of elimination. The more than 2 million sweat glands function much in the same way as the kidneys. Like urine, sweat can flush strong acids from the body. The difference between the kidneys and the sweat glands is the capacity. Roughly one quart of sweat is lost per day whereas urine removes up to one and a half quarts each day. Urine also removes more toxins than sweat.

Even a ‘little bit’ too much Acid wreaks havoc on your health.
So have you taken your pH test yet?
If you didn’t have a reading of 7.0 or higher read on…
WARNING: Your Life Is At Risk.
Look at these statistics:
-Heart disease #1 killer in America
-Cancer 30% of Americans will succumb to it
-Stroke #3 killer
-Alzheimer’s 40% over 85 are suffering from it
-Diabetes increased 600% in last generation
-40 million+ Americans suffer from Arthritis or
-Osteoporosis (did you know hip fractures kill more
women than breast, cervix and uterus cancer COMBINED?!)
and what about these ‘common’ ailments?
-Acid Reflux
-Weight gain
-Diabetes
-Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
-Cardiovascular damage, including the constriction
of blood vessels and the reduction of oxygen
-Premature aging
-Bladder and kidney conditions, including kidney stones
-Immune deficiency
-Acceleration of free radical damage, possibly
contributing to cancerous mutations
-Joint pain, aching muscles and lactic acid buildup
-Low Energy and chronic fatigue
-Headaches, sinus problems, irritability, colds and
flu are other symptoms of an over acidic body
-Low energy or fatigued frequently
-NEWS FLASH-
This is not suppose to be a normal part of aging and many of these deaths are totally unnecessary. If a
disaster happens, like an explosion, or a plane crash kills 300 people, that makes the headlines, but what
about a MILLION people dying of heart attack and HALF a MILLION of cancer? Think of it this way, it’s like a packed jumbo jet crashing every HOUR of every DAY of every MONTH for a YEAR! Think about that for a second, interesting isn’t it? but WHY so much sickness - simple really…
…Over acidity gives rise to an internal environment conducive to disease. If you’ve got a health problem and/or low energy, 99.9999% chance you’re acidic. In addition, over acidity will decrease the body’s
ability to absorb minerals and other nutrients, decrease energy production in the cells, decrease ability to repair damaged cells, decrease its ability to detoxify heavy metals, make tumor cells thrive and make you more susceptible to fatigue and illness.
One of the best things we can do for ourselves and our body is to clean up our diet and our lifestyle… Balancing your pH is a major step toward well-being and greater health.
Over acidity is very common today in our society mostly due to the typical American diet, which is far too high in acid-producing products like meat, eggs, and dairy, and far too low in alkaline producing foods like vegetables, whole grains, oils, sprouts, and water. In addition, we eat acid producing processed foods like white flour and refined sugar and drink acid producing drinks like soda, coffee, and processed juices.
Did you know that it takes 32 glasses of water to neutralize ONE 12oz. can of Soda? We use too many ‘over the counter’ and prescription drugs, which are also acid forming.
How do you know if you’re acidic? The easiest way is to use pH test strips - first discover how acidic you are, then begin the process of alkalizing yourself to regain health, energy, and vitality.
The pH, or ‘potential of Hydrogen’ is a logarithmic scale that measures the relative acidity or alkalinity
of a solution. Solutions are measured from 0 (totally acid) to 14 (totally alkaline) with 7 being neutral. The optimum pH in a healthy body is slightly alkaline and should fall within an approximate range of 7.15 to 7.45. The human body is constantly struggling to maintain a healthy alkaline pH level because of what is being put in it - but there are easy ways you can come to the rescue.
Eating right and some basic exercise is a good place to start, but nowadays-good supplements are a must.
Our daily activities make it very hard to maintain the proper alkaline level. Thankfully there are some incredible supplements on the market. They’re easy to take and always there to support your body’s demands.
Our bodies are constantly rebuilding themselves. You really are not the same person you were last year. The body replaces the lining of the stomach about every five days, the skin in about a month, the skeleton about every three months, the liver about every six weeks and the red blood cells circulate for about 120 days before being replaced by new cells.
What you do today affects the body you’ll have tomorrow. That can be good or bad…it all depends on what you do now. The new body that you’re building today is affected by the food you eat, by the air you breath, the liquids you drink, and by the stress you feel and how you respond to it.
A long-term acid producing diet creates an acidic environment at the cellular level. If cells cannot function properly, you cease to function. On the other hand, a healthy alkaline diet creates an environment that is conducive to cellular level health, which results in total health.
Start at the source or anything you try will just be a quick fix that will not last.
Make this be the turning point in your life. Would you like some help?
I’ve collected valuable tools and resources that can help you change your body from being too acidic to being more alkaline - just like it helped us. I have researched countless books, articles, interviews and anything else I could find, and I’ve created a one-stop source of practical acid/alkaline (pH) balance information.
Make the decision to be healthy and full of energy - it’s well worth it.
I’ve put together a specially priced alkalizing system that will help you jump start you to alkalinity and better health.

On the pH scale, the midpoint, or the number 7 represents a perfect balance of acid and alkaline. The body needs balance to function optimally, but the number 7 is not necessarily the magic number for all parts of the body. Inside, the body’s biochemical environment, as it was designed, prefers to be on the slightly more alkaline side. The optimal measurement here actually is 7.39.
The blood however, functions properly only as long as the pH measurement falls within the range of 7.36 (a bit more acidic) to 7.42 (a bit more alkaline). Measurements outside this range significantly compromise the blood’s ability to function properly and can even result in death. Alkalosis results when the blood’s pH measurement falls between 7.42 and 7.8. Acidosis results when the blood’s pH measurement ranges from 7 to 7.35.
Anytime alkalosis or acidosis strikes, some type of physical or mental illness will also be present. Fortunately, the body takes swift action to correct any imbalance in the blood’s pH levels. It has to. The blood is one part of the body that must maintain stability if it is to maintain the life of a physical organism. Interestingly, acidosis affects more than 50% of the population!
Like the blood, the body’s internal biochemical environment functions best when pH levels fall within the range of 7.36 and 7.42. This internal environment is more capable of dealing with measurements outside this range, but will function optimally, as it was designed, when this range is maintained.
Most other organic fluids inside the body as well as body tissues function at different pH ranges. The exceptions are the lymph fluids and the fluids that are inside or that surround the cells. These fluids prefer the 7.39 measurement. The pH of urine can go as high as 6 and as low as 4.5 to 5. The reason that urine can tolerate such a range is because it does not stay inside the body very long. It is regularly eliminated. Which other parts of the body are acid? The skin’s outer layers have a pH of 5.2. This makes sense considering one of the primary responsibilities of the outer skin is to kill microbes so that they do not enter the body. The body’s gastric region has a pH of 2 primarily because it must digest proteins. The colon also is acid, with a pH of 6.8.
Other parts of the body are more alkaline. For example, the inner layers of the skin have a pH of 7.35, the small intestine has a pH of 8, and the body’s pancreatic juices have a pH range between 7.5 and 8.8.
It would not make sense to attempt to bring balance to the parts of the body that need to function at different acid and alkaline levels. Doing so would cause them to cease functioning as they were designed. What is important is to take steps to return the body’s internal biochemical environment to the proper pH level. Every single one of the health problems that are caused by acidity can be traced back to the acidification of the body’s internal environment.

The pH scale measures a substance’s acidity, but an acid can further be classified as either a weak acid or a strong acid. Only rarely will an acid be found in an isolated or “free” state, meaning it lacks an alkaline element. Acids generally are combined with one or more alkaline elements.
It is this combination that classifies an acid as strong or weak. When an acidic element combines with a very strong alkaline, the acid is considered weak. It is easy for the body to neutralize weak acids. When the opposite occurs, and the acid combines with a weak alkaline, the acid is considered strong. Strong acids are more stable and as a result, will not mix well with other elements.
Strong acids are difficult for the body to neutralize.
Since strong acids do not readily mix with other elements, they are difficult to neutralize. Because they are difficult to neutralize, it is more difficult for the body to eliminate them. Animal proteins are the primary source of uric acids, phosphoric acids, and sulfuric acids; acids that are classified as strong. Before these types of acids can be eliminated from the body, the body must attempt to neutralize them.
Which body organs are responsible for neutralizing strong acids?
The liver and the kidneys are responsible for this task. On a daily basis, however, the kidneys are only capable of eliminating a certain amount of strong acids. What the kidneys cannot process end up being stored in the tissues. Because of this daily limitation, it is very important that individuals control their intake of animal proteins.
Plants are the primary source of weak acids, mainly vegetable proteins and carbohydrates. Yogurt and whey are the two exceptions: these originate from animal proteins. Pyruvic, citric, acetylsalicylic, and oxalic acids are classified as weak acids. Volatile acids are also classified as weak. After oxidation, the body is able to eliminate these in the form of vapors and gasses (breath moisture and carbon dioxide) by way of the lungs.
Since volatile acids are easily eliminated by the lungs and the process does not involve the kidneys, the body has no limitations on their intake. When excess amounts need to be eliminated, the body simply increases its breathing rate. The only limitation on elimination therefore, is the depth and rate of a person’s breathing.

Maintaining the internal body’s proper pH level really is not difficult. A proper diet and moderate exercise is all the body needs to help keep pH levels in balance. Unfortunately, few people living in the industrialized nations eat right and exercise regularly. As a result, today’s growing acidification problem stems from the way we in the Western world live our lives.
Consumption of too many acidifying foods such as sugars, proteins and cereal products is the biggest problem. Excessive consumption of stimulants with high acidity levels including coffee, tea, tobacco and even alcohol compounds the problem. What further worsens the situation is that consumption of alkaline foods such as vegetables that help neutralize acids is way down.
Stress, pressure, time constraints, and nervousness, which many of us cannot escape, all have an impact on the body’s ability to function normally. As a result, these too significantly increase the already high acid levels inside the body. Add to this the fact that people seem no longer capable of exercising in moderation. They either don’t exercise at all or they exercise excessively. Both further increase acid levels.
Food still is by far the factor that has the biggest impact on acid levels. For most people, excess acid levels can be brought back into balance simply by adjusting the diet so that more alkaline foods are consumed. Simply put, alkaline neutralizes acids.
For a small group, however, correcting acidification is not so easy. In addition to a sedentary lifestyle and making the wrong food choices, these individuals are not able to metabolize acidic foods properly and sometimes not at all. When the body cannot properly metabolize nutrients, all sorts of problems can arise. These non- or partially- metabolized substances stagnate inside the body. This stagnation can create toxins, leading to illness or to the body’s ability to function properly. For example, an inability to metabolize sugar causes diabetes. The inability to metabolize fats leads to obesity. Proteins are not properly metabolized in cases of rheumatism. There are many more examples of the body’s inability to properly metabolize substances.
Weak acids typically are oxidized and expelled through the lungs by way of carbon dioxide and breath moisture. The weak acids combine with the strong alkalines then release the strong alkalines, something the body needs. Weak acid foods such as yogurt, fruit, vinegar and whey contribute strong alkalines.
When a person has a problem metabolizing acids it is generally the weak acids that cannot be metabolized. These people eat the weak acid foods thinking they are doing the right thing, but the inability to oxidize them causes more problems than good. Instead of releasing the strong acids with which they combine, the foods cause the body’s internal environment to become even more acid. And if that wasn’t bad enough, one food can have a varying impact depending on the person who eats it. Take a lemon for example. Some say it is an acid while others say it is an alkaline. Both opinions are right, because the proper category for that lemon depends on how the body of the person who eats it reacts to it.
It is very important that people who are unable to properly metabolize acids carefully regulate the amount of weak acid foods they consume. These individuals cannot rely on the two basic food categorizations of acid and alkaline that others can. For them, a third category is needed because weak acids don’t have the same alkalizing effects. In fact, some weak acid foods may have quite the opposite effect.

This goes for all of your lunches and dinners. Try not to skip. And these extra additions to your lunch and dinner can be anything with vegetables…
- Adding salad to your lunch and dinner.
- Adding a single vegetable to your lunch and dinner…broccoli, green peppers, tomatoes, etc.
- Adding vegetable juices to your lunch and dinner
- Adding vegetable soups (raw) to your lunch and dinner.
Note: Don’t cook your vegetables.
Cooking destroys the essential micronutrients.
HERE ARE FOUR SUGGESTIONS YOU CAN USE TO START THIS GOOD HABIT OF EATING RAW VEGETABLES WITH LUNCH AND DINNER
1. Salad. Use variety of lettuce. Don’t just use traditional iceberg lettuce. Add radicchio, romaine, kale, spinach to your salad. Add cabbage green or red, collard greens. Use olive oil and lemon juice as a dressing.
2. Raw vegetables. Raw broccoli add crunch and powerful phytochemical, nutrients found only in plants. Radishes add zest, potassium, and vitamin C. Include white, red and even pink varieties for a splash of color. Cherry tomatoes are perfect and a good source of phytochemicals. Carrots are the perfect way to add essential beta-carotene to your lunch and dinner.
3. Vegetable juice. Green leafy vegetables are the best to juice. The easiest ones to use include all the lettuce including:
Red leaf lettuce
Green leaf lettuce
Romaine lettuce
Escarole lettuce
Celery and cucumbers is a good combination for juicing and is easily tolerated if you just started with juicing. You’ll soon learn that your tasted buds will change as you incorporate more greens into your diet.
===Important Concept===
The reason many people who do not like the taste of fresh raw green juice and other alkaline combinations is simply their system is very acidic and the alkaline taste is a shock to what they’re used to. So ironically, the ones who need it the most find it the hardest to swallow (excuse the pun). But the good news is your taste buds will quickly adapt and just the opposite will be true - i.e., if you try to drink anything acidic you will not like it.
The trick is to get your body to crave alkaline instead of acidic and it is easily done, just don’t let the initial fight it puts up crush your momentum.
4. Vegetable soups. To make vegetable soups you can use many seasonal vegetables, including carrots, tomatoes, green beans, and squash. Use green leafy vegetables including kale and collard greens.
Truthfully, you should mix and match all of these in your diet.
Learning how to use more vegetables in your diet is one of the most critical parts of alkalizing your body.
You’ve just been given a very quick and easy way to begin bringing your body to alkaline balance by simply adding vegetables to your lunch and dinner.

The difference between the kidneys and the sweat glands is the capacity. Roughly one quart of sweat is lost per day whereas urine removes up to one and a half quarts each day. Urine also removes more toxins than sweat.

10 Tips to Healthy Alkaline Eating
Tip 1: Analyze Your Health!
Health depends on your body’s ability to resist disease. Resistance depends to a great extent on nutrition and varies with changing nutritional states. So, to preserve or promote health, you must know what vital elements are needed and where to find them in foods.
Foods are intended to supply the body with materials that can be converted into heat and energy and facilitate tissue formation and repair. All natural foods supply these materials in varying amounts. Just as a fire can be smothered by too much fuel, so the body fires can be dampened by too much bad food. Though foods are intended to create energy in the body, the over-consumption of bad food produces the opposite effect. The result is a greatly reduced amount of healthy energy.
A reduction in energy is just part of the problem. When your body is unable to convert foods into the necessary vitamins and nutrients, the unused foods may create waste products within the body. Serious chronic ailments may develop as a result.
Thus, healthful eating results from wise selection, proper preparation of alkaline foods in the right combination and quantities. If you will pay attention to each of these important elements, your body will be able to burn foods properly to create the right balance of energy and nutrition.
Tip 2: Raw Foods
Raw fresh fruits (without sugar) or raw vegetable salads or raw fruit juices or raw vegetable juices should be eaten at every meal. If your breakfast is so small that you ordinarily eat only toast and a vegetable, stop eating the toast and take fruits or fresh juices instead.
If your lunches are usually light ones, eliminate the sandwich or pie that you may have been filling up on, and substitute a raw drink or raw salad in its place. Have a large salad and raw juice before you eat a heavy entrée at dinner. This way, you will be sure to eat all of the salad instead of finding yourself too full to finish it.
Tip 3: Limit Protein and Carbohydrates
Limit proteins in your diet because they are acid-forming. Flesh foods and eggs are highly toxic and, if eaten at all, large amounts of alkaline-forming foods should be eaten with them. You can enjoy large healthful desserts at every meal when made of alkaline fruits with very little or no sugar.
Tip 4: Proper Food Combining
Do not eat more than one starch food at a meal. You can choose non-starch vegetables as the main fillers at each meal. If you use sugar and sweets eat it only for desserts – just something small at the end of your meal to satisfy your craving. Make it a habit to satisfy your appetite completely with the salad and main course dishes, and then smaller portions of dessert will suffice. Large healthful desserts may be enjoyed at every meal when made of alkaline fruits with very little or no sugar.
Tip 5: Hydrate Your Body
Drinking abundant water tends to relieve constipation, flushes out the kidneys, removes waste matter and keeps the million of you body cells in better working condition. Did you know that water is one of the best regulators and eliminators we have?
It is always best to drink between meals, but if you must drink water during meals, avoid using water to moisten or wash down your foods. This is a bad habit that we have since early years. Eating food dry is one effective way of eating less.
A good rule to follow is to drink eight (8-oz.) glasses a day. More water is required during hot weather or if you do a lot of physical exercise.
The water supply of most of our large cities is generally a fair quality, but its source is often not very appealing, particularly when excessive amounts of purifying chemicals are used – enough to kill fish in an aquarium. Even if the water supply is safe, it often possesses unsavory odors, both for drinking and cooking purposes. This is one reason many people don’t drink enough water to maintain good health.
Healthy alternative to regular water is alkaline water. Alkaline water is produced through electrolysis – a process that separates the acid from alkaline minerals. Alkaline water has been shown to have an alkalizing, neutralizing, oxygenating, and pH-balancing effect on the body. Because it is ionized, alkaline water will not leach out valuable minerals, such as calcium, magnesium, and potassium.
Alkaline water is structured with highly formed clustered patterns of 5-6 water molecules instead of 10-13 molecules found in tap water. This highly formed clustered pattern is called “micro-clustered,” meaning it will be more quickly and easily absorbed, and will hydrate the tissue more effectively.
Drinking alkaline water daily assists your body to flush out the build-up of toxic wastes. To safely rid the body of stored acidic waste, the alkaline water must contain the original alkaline minerals.
The Japanese have conducted research since the 1950s on the general health benefits of alkaline water. The research indicates the following conditions have been improved by drinking alkaline water: arthritis, chronic constipation, diabetes, chronic diarrhea, heartburn, chronic fatigue, indigestion, high blood pressure, leg cramps, poor circulation, migraines, nausea, obesity, osteoporosis, and stress.
Tip 6: Eat More Vegetables
All foods originally come from the plant kingdom. Animals cannot originate foods. Plants are food producers.
The little chlorophyll cells (the part that makes plants green) are the mystic laboratories that make foods out of the lifeless, inorganic elements. In these little green plant factories, by means of the sun’s rays, nitrogen, oxygen, carbon, calcium and other elements are converted into living organic substances. Chlorophyll cells function as a sort of trap that captures sunshine and stores it in the form of carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, and other food elements.
If you eat too much foods too rich in carbohydrates and proteins and deficient in mineral salts, cellulose and vitamins you impair your cell efficiency. Diet high in foods that contain too much carbohydrates and protein give rise to all kinds of abnormalities. Perfect health can only be maintained when you vital forces are greater than the deterioration forces.
Thus, vegetables should play a very important role in you nutrition. With the exception of the starchy tubers and roots (potatoes and sweet potatoes), and the seed vegetables (peas and beans), vegetables are mostly low in calories, but furnish the needed vitamins, minerals and cellulose. You need the alkaline residue of vegetables to combat the acid residue of concentrated foods (meats, eggs, and cereal products) that form such a large part of our diet. You need vegetables to give you important vitamins that are either absent or limited in many of commonly consumed foods. You need vegetables above all to provide you with the absolutely necessary cellulose or fiber either absent or removed from a large percentage of foods.
Tip 7: Switch to Organic Foods (when it all possible eat organic foods)
During the first few stages, you can begin to add more natural and organic foods to your diet. Natural and organic foods support and enhance the earth’s natural balance. Organic food products are produced using agricultural management practices that promote and enhance agro- and eco-system health and use no genetically engineered seeds or crops, sewage sludge, long-lasting pesticides, herbicides or fungicides. Organic food products also use livestock management practices that promote healthy, humanely treated animals by providing organically grown feed, fresh air and outdoor access while using no antibiotics or growth hormones.
You can buy organically produced products in your local health food stores such as “Whole Foods” (visit www.wholefoods.com for a store locator), and “Wild Oats” (visit www.wildoats.com to locate a store near you). If some of these health stores are not conveniently located near you, you can check out your local supermarkets. Most supermarkets have added a healthy section to their stores. Publix®, which is often found in the Southern region of the United States, now carries a wide variety of organic products. Organically produced products there are as good as in any health food store, because all organic products are certified by the same agency. Be careful to read all the labels on the products. All products labeled as “organic” must be certified by an USDA-accredited certifying agency.
New labeling may be a bit confusing at first. Here is a quick reference:
“100% Organic”
• Products must contain only organically produced raw or processed material, excluding water and salt.
• The name of the certifying agency must appear on packages. Use of the agency’s certifying seal is optional. Use of the USDA “organic” seal is optional.
“Organic”
• Product must have at least 95% organically produced ingredients.
• The label may also state the percentage of organic ingredients.
• The name of the certifying agency must appear on packages. Use of the agency’s certifying seal is optional. Use of the USDA “organic” seal is optional.
“Made with Organic Ingredients”
• Product must contain at least 70% organic ingredients.
• Product may display the term “Made With Organic…” and then list up to three of the product’s organic ingredients or food groups. The label may also state the percentage of organic ingredients.
• The name of the certifying agency must appear on packages. Use of the agency’s certifying seal is optional. Use of the USDA “organic” seal is prohibited.
To learn more about organic products, log on to the USDA’s National Organic Program Web site at www.ams.usda.gov/nop.
Because foods are grown today in the mineral depleted soil consider using mineral supplements as well as fulvic acid. For more resources on mineral supplements and fulvic acid visit http://www.FulvicMiracle.com
Tip 8: “Good” and “Bad” Fats
Fats are a better energy source than proteins or carbohydrates. You need to add fats to your diet because they carry the fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K.2 Because of the growing awareness of the health damage caused Trans fatty acids, which make up the hydrogenated oils found in everything from baked goods and chips to margarine, a demand has been created for high quality fats.
You do need the right kinds of fats essential for good health. There are 3 types of fats found in oil: monounsaturated fats, polyunsaturated fats and saturated fats. Saturated fats are a cause of many health problems and should be omitted from your diet. Polyunsaturated fats and monounsaturated fats are the good fats. They are essential for good health. Polyunsaturated fats are liquid fats and found primarily in nuts, vegetables, seeds, fish, and soybeans. Monounsaturated fats are found in olive oil, avocado, and almonds. While monounsaturated fats can be found in other sources, those are not alkalizing foods so they will not be discussed here.
Companies have responded by developing high-tech extraction methods in producing oils. Health food stores now sell oils from pumpkin, flax, sunflower, and almond. They are oxygen-free, cold-pressed, or unrefined oil, and must be stored in a dark bottle in the refrigerator.
• Good oils and fats are found in avocados, nuts and seeds.
• Cold-pressed oils can be purchased from your local health food store or your local supermarket.
• Oils can be used in foods and in salad dressings.
Tip 9: Grains and Legumes
Grains form the base of a balanced diet and are important in maintaining the alkaline balance in the body. Grains are a great source of vitamins, minerals and essential nutrients, including folic acid, fiber, carbohydrates, antioxidants and phytoestrogens. The Department of Food Science and Nutrition at University of Minnesota determined that consumption of whole grains reduces the risk of chronic diseases including cancer and cardiovascular disease. By eating grains you can eat less but feel full. Grains should comprise about 20% of your diet.
Try the following methods of adding grains to your daily diet:
• Choose a quick and easy ready-to-eat or ready-to-cook whole grain cereal for breakfast, such as buckwheat hot cereal from health food stores (you can find it in the cereal section).
• Choose whole grain breads, tortillas, bagels, pita pockets and rolls. Try spelt or kamut bread usually found in health food store in the frozen foods section.
• Enjoy low-fat whole grain crackers, baked tortilla chips or brown rice cakes as a snack.
• Add whole grains to mixed dishes. Try adding some pearl barley or wild or brown rice to your favorite soup, stew or casserole.
• Try a hot or cold whole grain side dish (such as pilaf or stuffing) using brown or wild rice, kasha, bulgur or barley. (See New and Healthy You program for more healthy and delicious recipes)
Legumes are plants that have pods with rows of seeds inside. Beans are in the same family as legumes. Such foods consist of lentils, pintos, black beans, garbanzo beans, black-eyed peas and chickpeas. Most people do not realize how wonderful legumes are. Legumes are known as a great low-fat source of fiber and nutrients, including calcium, iron, potassium, vitamin A and vitamin B. Legumes don’t contain cholesterol and are very low in sodium. They are highly valued because they are rich in protein. They contain as much protein as meat and dairy products. To maintain your protein intake without turning to meat and dairy, legumes can serve as a great substitute.
• Begin to incorporate legumes into your diet slowly due to the high fiber content. Give your body time to adjust.
• Combine legumes with grains to provide your body with the same nutrients found in meat products and dairy products.
Tip 10: Sea Vegetables
Unlike land vegetables, sea plants are the last frontier of food that has been unchanged by man’s industrialized, destructive growing methods. Sea vegetables are rich in nutrients and contain lots of enzymes. Sea vegetables are high in mineral content, which is a result of their ability to absorb and utilize the wealth of minerals suspended in the ocean water. The most popular sea vegetables are seaweed, dulse, nori sheets, agar-agar, wakame and arame. They are an excellent addition to soups and salads. Replace your saltshaker with sea salt (or better yet, grind sea vegetables into powder) and begin to explore the varied products found in your local health food store that come from this rich source of nutrients.
